“Kissing Potion” Lip Balm

I don’t know about ya’ll, but I will stand up and say right now “Hello, my name is Leigh and I am a lippy.” I’m addicted to lip balm, and not just because I have sensitive lips that chap easily and peel constantly. I also love the lush softness of a great lip balm on my lips. It makes me want to kiss kiss kiss. It’s why I HAVE to have 1-inch diameter lip balm tubes as well. This time of the year I like to make a nice big batch for my own self as well as for gifting during the holidays.

I tried a little something different this time – I added a some “mwah” to my recipe. It’s a tried and true ingredient in skin and body preparations since way, WAY back when, and it’s an aphrodisiac. Y’know what I’m talking about? I’ll give you a hint, it tastes yummy and it’s super sexy.

Got it yet?

It’s honeyhoney1

I took my really nice recipe using mango butter, beeswax and almond oil and kicked it up a few notches by adding honey and Evening Primrose Oil. If this recipe doesn’t make you want to kiss someone and get a nice big smooch in return, you can have your money back! 😉 The flavor I chose was citrus mint, but I am going to get another nice Rose mint batch going, because I think that’ll be even sexier! You can, of course, substitute any oils you prefer. I like to add mint for that minty fresh breath kiss.

Recipe – Yields approx. 24 small tubes or 12 large ones

  • 2 tbsp. Sweet Almond Oil
  • 1 tbsp. Coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp. Mango Butter
  • 1-2 tsp. Honey (Local, raw honey is best)
  • 2 tbsp. beeswax
  • 2 Vitamin E capsules (or about 1/2 tsp. oil) (Optional)
  • 1/2 tsp. Evening Primrose Oil (optional)
  • Approx. 24-36 drops of your favorite essential oils – I used 10 drops lime, 12 drops sweet orange, 4 drops lemon, 12 drops spearmint.

Directions

In a double boiler, or a glass bowl over a boiling pot of water, gently melt hard butters and waxes. Add oils, vitamin E and honey and combine. (Wait until you have pulled the mixture off the heat to add the essential oils).

While stirring, think about your someone you really want to kiss (preferably someone who wants to also kiss you, or at least wants you to kiss them). Think about your lips being healthy and sexy, and know that your kisses only go to those who want them.

With lips healthy, smooth and sheen, I will be a kissing machine!
My kisses harm none and are good for all, only those who choose and those who call
Kiss me darling when we meet, or my child when we greet
Kiss of love, honor, and trust, abide in me as they must.

Pour into a glass measuring cup with a spout to easily fill the tubes. Allow to cool completely before placing caps on.
